I see lots of people struggling to get traffic to their websites. I know what that’s like, I used to be in the same boat.
All the so-called ‘gurus’ were saying the same thing.
“Just set up a converting funnel and drive traffic to it”
Huh?
They made it sound so easy. Just do A then B and the money will come pouring in. Well, in fact, it is that easy but they left out one important detail. Like everything else in life, it’s only easy once you know how to do it.
The first step to getting hoards of traffic is that you need to realize one very important thing about traffic. Traffic on the internet is EVERYWHERE. Traffic sources are essentially limitless.
Read that again. It’s that important.
Once you understand this and then learn how to harness traffic and send it anywhere you what. You will never have to worry about where your next check is coming from.
Ok, so let’s break it down into the two main types of traffic that are out there
- Free
- Paid
Free traffic is things like SEO, article marketing, Youtube videos, forum posting, guest blogging, etc…
But free traffic is really a misnomer because it costs you a very important commodity. Your time. You have to write the articles, make the videos, build backlinks, etc. So, essentially, all traffic is paid traffic. Because you’re either paying in time or in money.
The other thing about so-called ‘free’ traffic is that it takes time to build up. The effects of SEO and article marketing don’t happen overnight so progress will be slow which makes it really hard to quickly test what’s working and what isn’t.
It took me more time than I care to admit to realize that when the gurus were talking about “sending traffic to your funnel” They were really talking about paid traffic. The kind that costs money.
Why?
Because you can turn paid traffic on and off like a tap and you can quickly figure out what’s working and what’s not because you can send lots of traffic at once and split test your way to profitability.
Being able to send traffic on demand to your offers is the difference between a healthy income online and worrying about paying your bills.
Traffic and your ability to send it is THAT important. It makes or breaks your business. Period.
Here’s a great way to start getting some paid (almost free) traffic that you can implement right away.
Go to Google and search for other sites in the same niche as you that are building lists and contact them and ask if you can buy a solo ad from them.
This just means they’ll send an email out to their list promoting your offer or squeeze page. (It should be to a squeeze page, more on this later)
Even better, if you have a product, you can give it to them for free and offer them 100% of the profits to promote to their list.
It’s a win for everyone.
This is a great way to build a list of BUYERS for (almost) free. And with a back end in place, you could even profit on the deal right away.
But remember what the ‘gurus’ say “Just set up a converting funnel and drive traffic to it”
FIRST, you set up the funnel.
And that funnel usually starts with a squeeze page offering a free video or free report in exchange for your prospects’ email address.
Here’s a HOT tip:
You don’t even need a free offer to use a squeeze page. You can use the squeeze page as the gateway to an offer.
It’s like the cover charge to enter the club. You have to pay just to get in the door. Just use a headline and a benefit and direct them to your offer or an affiliate offer.
Click here for a great example of how this is done!
Either way, freebie or not, never send any traffic anywhere online without first grabbing your visitors’ email address.
You can take that to the BANK.
Why would you want to pay (with your time and/or money) to send traffic somewhere and only market to them once? If you send them directly to an offer then that’s exactly what you’re doing. If they don’t buy right then and there (and most don’t) then they’re gone forever.
Be a smart marketer and grab their email first so you can connect with them again and again with great content and offers.
This will exponentially increase your ROI trust me.
You need a squeeze page and there’s no sense in overcomplicating this so I’ll give you a rundown of the basics and you’ll be ahead of 90% of list builders if you follow this model.
Here are the key elements of a successful squeeze page and as long as you follow these simple rules you’ll be off to a good start and you can then split test your way to a kick-ass squeeze page.
Red Headline That Captures Attention
In most cases, a big red attention-grabbing headline outperforms other colors so you’ll want to start there. Create a sense of urgency or highlight that you’re offering is free, Start the headline with “Urgent:” or “Yours Free”
Subheadline
Use a blue or black sub-headline that highlights the main benefit and tell them what they’re getting when they optin.
