I don’t know what it is about this week but I’ve been getting tons of emails from my subscribers and the conversation has been going something like this:
Joe: hey Nicole, I signed up for this opportunity and I haven’t made any money yet. What am I doing wrong?
me: ok, how long have you been working on it?
Joe: two weeks
me: keep working it.
Joe is a totally hypothetical name by the way. But Joe represents someone that is very typical in the home business industry.
There’s a common misconception when you’ve signed up for a business opportunity. You assume that you should be making money right away. You feel that since you spent money on a “business” that it’s now responsible for dumping piles of money in your lap and if it doesn’t then it must be because that business is crap and doesn’t work.
My friend Devon Brown thinks that this is what people tell themselves
“I spent, therefore, I should make”
I think he’s right on the money. This is the mindset that many have and it’s what keeps them from having success.
The reality is that you didn’t buy a business. You bought a business OPPORTUNITY, a system, and in order to make the system a business you have to work it.
Did you get that?
You have to work the system in order to have a business.
If you have a system that you’re happy with…GREAT!…keep working on it. If you don’t have one or you’re not happy with the one you have then I recommend this one.
I’ve tried a few and had to ditch some because once I got a chance to look deeper under the hood I really didn’t like what I saw. I’m working on one now that I love and really resonates with me. Find one like that and work it until the cows come home.
But don’t think that just because you spent $20, $100, $250, or even $2000 to buy a system that it’s going to generate thousands a month in a couple of weeks.
There are actual businesses out there that are for sale that already have a system and employees working the business for you to buy like laundromats and such that require little maintenance because someone else has already done the hard work of hiring employees, getting customers, securing vendors, turning a profit, etc… but those businesses cost 100s of thousands of dollars to purchase.
Look, I’m not pointing fingers here, I used to have the exact same mindset. I’m just as guilty as the next person but what got me past that was understanding that just because I bought a biz opp didn’t mean I was entitled to anything.
So go find a system that works. This is a good one. And expect nothing. Work it hard for 3-6 months and let the results surprise you. I suspect you’ll be pleased.
